The Zen n Zia facebook group posted this very cool Rope String at the same time as Eni Oken’s Shading Zentangle group posted the Yew Dee tangle challenge. So I put the two together and voila!

 

I love this rope string! I know it’s supposed to be rope, but it reminds me of a gnarled tree, and I may just be using this string for trees in the very near future.

So this is part 2 of my Hamadox adventure.  You can see part 1 here.  This time around I got a little more playful with my Tombows and with the Hamadox pattern.  I remembered to take a few pics this time as I went along. Hope you enjoy!

Hamadox (Diana Schreur): what a funky idea! It's a mixture between paradox and hamail.  I didn't like the way it looked when I first tried it out (you can see a bunch of my attempts in the background paper of my lineart picture). So I tried a little something different.  Give me a few days and you'll be able to see the video of how I tweaked it to my liking.

In the meantime, I had fun with this piece.  I used my Towbow marker to give that orange pop of colour and I love it.

That's my puppy's fur in the right corner of the pic - she was hogging the natural light from the window :)

You can see there in the background that I played around with getting the hang of this before I started on the tile.

Thought I'd get my practice on a little more with Stella and my distress inks.  No before pics this time just some playing around. I'm loving the backgrounds with the distress inks, I've got to try to get the water droplet effect going.  Apparently I've been doing it wrong.  Just spritzing the paper doesn't do the trick, which I tried below.  All it did was curl up the paper and make it harder to work with.  Should I have read the instruction booklet first? Yeah probably...

Somehow I went from the Stella Zentangle looking like snowflakes, to it having more of a nautical appearance.  How the heck did that happen? Perception is everything I suppose.  I'm seeing compasses now - go figure.

Yay! I got to play with my new grey tones tiles! Woohoo! And of course, since I’m still working on the Trelina tangle, I incorporated into the piece.  Lots of fun shading on the grey tiles, was able to use a white pencil crayon and really make that white pop (though the pic doesn't do it justice).

I decided to try my second attempt at Eni Oken’s Trelina Zentangle pattern with sepia copic markers.  I tried to match it as best I could with for the shading with a coloured pencil.  I still don’t have the hang of this pattern yet, but slowly and surely I’m getting there.

I’ve been zentangle-absent for the summer, taking advantage of the nice weather as much as possible before the brutal winter hits my little Canadian town.  I’ve been working sporadically on a larger piece in my downtime which I’m looking forward to share upon its completion.

 

In the meantime, I’d been admiring the Trelina Zentangle work of other zentanglers on the Shading Zentangle facebook page.  Thank you Eni Oken! Admiring them so much, I just had to give it a try.  Boy oh boy, was it ever a whole lot more difficult than I expected it to be.

 

I haven’t gotten the hang of yet, not quite.  But below is my first attempt.  I didn’t stop to take a before pic, because I was struggling so much with getting the pattern down.  I’ll be working on getting the hang of this until I do.  I'm predicting plenty more attempt-posts to come!
